Description
This extraordinary media from New Zealand is dark and rich and comes from the bark of Pinus Radiata which does not decompose as quickly as fir bark. It retains a hard structure with excellent porosity, and is an organic renewable resource. Monterey Pine Bark was discussed in the article called Growing the Best Phalaenopsis in the February 2007 edition of Orchids, the Journal of the American Orchid Society, as a favorable media for orchid cultivation noting its ability to hold moisture and nutrients at a higher pH resulting in better orchid growth. In addition, this aged pine bark does not decompose as quickly.” Each piece of extra small Monterey Pine Bark is roughly 1/8 inch.
