HELENIUM a. ‘Salsa’ – Mariachi™ Series. PP25978. 18-20″ tall, 18-24″ spread, full sun, mid summer-early fall bloom. Vibrant salsa-red petals that encircle a dark maroon cone with a bright yellow collar. Its sturdy, straight stems make it an excellent choice for cut flowers. Long-blooming and compact. Exhibits excellent powdery mildew resistance. Attracts butterflies, birds & is bee friendly. Deer resistant. Zones 3-9. Potted in 3″ pot.

Native to the edges of woods, low meadows, and moist prairies, helenium will thrive in any average to rich, moist, well-drained soil and full sun. Dry soil will result in unsightly plants. Pinch plants back by half in late spring to encourage a more sturdy, compact habit. Deadhead to promote rebloom. Divide every 3-4 years to maintain vigor.
