Description
Calamagrostis prefers sunny, dry conditions. It can be grown in nearly any soil, including heavy clay. Be sure to provide plenty of moisture in extremely hot weather. Cut back to 6″ in spring before new growth begins. Propagate by division in either spring or fall. Tall. CALAMAGROSTIS b. ‘Caspian’. 4′ tall, 18-24″ spread, full sun-part shade. Upright, clump forming foliage is green with a tinge of bronze that holds strong all summer then fade to gold in fall. Dusty pink feathery plumes appear late summer and persists through winter. Deer resistant. Cool season. Zones 4-10. Potted in 3″ pot.
