Description
Belamcanda bloom for weeks in late summer, and its season of interest is extended into fall with the interesting seed pods which develop. Tan, pear-shaped pods burst open to reveal clusters of black seeds resembling blackberries, hence the common name. BELAMCANDA c. ‘Freckle Face’. 18-24″ tall, 8-12″ spread, full sun, late summer bloom. 2″ wide, brilliant orange blossoms with heavy red speckling and shading on each of the six overlapping petals. Green, sword-shaped foliage like that of a tall bearded iris. In Fall, tan, pear-shaped pods burst open to reveal clusters of black seeds resembling blackberries. Pods persist through the winter and are attractive in fresh or dried flower arrangements. Attracts butterflies. Deer resistant. Zones 4-8. #1 grade bareroot, wrapped in high grade potting soil.
